Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using GoonGuard ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. What GoonGuard Is
GoonGuard is a self-improvement tool that uses voluntary financial accountability to help you quit pornography. The app operates on an honour system: you self-report your daily status through check-ins. We do not monitor, track, scan, or surveil your device activity in any way.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 17 years old to use GoonGuard. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
4. In-App Purchases & Fines
GoonGuard offers consumable in-app purchases ("fines") as an accountability mechanism. Key terms:
- Fines are voluntary and self-imposed. You choose your fine amount and you choose to report a relapse.
- Available fine tiers: $4.99, $9.99, $24.99, $49.99, $99.99, and $249.99.
- All purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not process payments directly.
- All fines are final and non-refundable, except as required by applicable law or the refund policies of Apple or Google.
- If you cancel a payment, no relapse is recorded. Payment is required to confirm a relapse.
- Apple or Google retains a commission on all purchases.
5. Honour System
The app relies entirely on your honesty. We have no way to verify whether you have relapsed. You are solely responsible for truthful self-reporting. The effectiveness of the app depends on your integrity.
6. Not Medical or Therapeutic Advice
GoonGuard is not a medical device, therapy tool, clinical treatment, or substitute for professional help. We are not licensed healthcare providers. If you are struggling with addiction, please seek support from a qualified therapist, counsellor, or addiction programme. The app is a personal accountability tool — nothing more.
7. No Guarantee of Results
The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that GoonGuard will help you quit pornography or achieve any specific outcome. Financial penalties may not be effective for all individuals.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. This includes, but is not limited to, emotional distress, financial hardship from fines, or consequences of relapse. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid in fines in the preceding 12 months.
9. Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for all purchases made through your Apple ID or Google account.
- You agree not to reverse engineer, tamper with, or circumvent app functionality.
- You agree not to use the app for any unlawful purpose.
10. Intellectual Property
All content, design, code, and branding in GoonGuard are owned by the developer. The GoonGuard name and logo are trademarks. You may not reproduce or redistribute any part of the app without written permission.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to discontinue the app at any time without notice. Your local data remains on your device regardless. No refunds will be issued for previously purchased fines if the app is discontinued.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Changes will be posted at goonguard.app/terms. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full effect.
